How I work
I work quietly. For most of your wedding day you won't notice me. I move through the day without interrupting it, without directing it, and without making it about the camera.
Nothing is staged or forced.
Apart from a short time set aside for group photographs and your couple portraits, every image is captured as it happens. The result isn't just a record of how your day looked -- it's a record of how it felt.
The moments between the moments
The photographs that matter most are rarely the ones you planned. They're the glance across the room before the ceremony. The moment your father sees you. The laughter that you didn't expect. These are the images that grow in value over time, not because they're beautifully composed, but because they're true.
I pay attention to the edges of the day, the quiet moments, the in-betweens, the people around you reacting to the person you've become. That's where the real story lives.
Creative couple portraits
The time set aside for portraits is one of the few moments in the day that's just for the two of you. No guests, no schedule, just a few minutes to breathe and be together.
Most couples tell me they were nervous about this part beforehand and barely noticed it on the day. I keep things relaxed and natural. I'll offer a little direction where it helps, but I'm mostly watching for the moments between the poses, when you stop thinking about the camera and just look at each other. That's where the best portraits come from.
Silhouettes
Silhouettes have become one of the most requested elements of my work. There's something about stripping a moment back to its simplest form, two people, the light, and the shape of them together. That makes for an image unlike anything else from the day.
They take only a few minutes to create and can be captured during your pre-wedding session, on the wedding day, or both. If it's something you'd like, just mention it when we speak.
Time to party!
Finally! It’s time to let loose and dance the night away. For the last couple of hours during dancing, I like to be in the middle of the dance floor and capture all the action up close. This gives the viewer of the photo the feeling that they are there on the dance floor too. I just love the facial expressions and emotions I am able to capture during these last few moments of the wedding.
